ESPN’s SportsScience explains the new BBCOR bat standards that have gone into effect in College Baseball

BBCOR?  BESR?  What do these terms mean?  And why should you care?  Well, the standards for bat performance have changed at the collegiate level.  And for the 2012 season, the IHSAA (Indiana High School Athletic Association) will require the bats to be BBCOR-certified also.  So the next time your player is shopping for a new bat, you and they should be educated with the new standards.  Will they trickle down to youth baseball associations soon?  Watch the short video below for a scientific, research-based perspective on the new bats.
